Acoustax is a low weight noise barrier system that absorbs sound from noise sources.
In order for Acoustax to function properly, the perforated side must face the source of the noise. Panels must fit together with a light-tight joint and rest snug up against the flange of the support post on the perforated side.
The supply of materials includes acoustax panels, bearing pads and horizontal rope caulk. The panel sizes, quantities to be supplied and the panel color must be approved prior to the start of fabrication.
Panels are delivered on pallets to the project site. Pallets can be unloaded with forklifts. Upon delivery, the load must be checked for damage, which should be marked on the bill of lading and reported immediately to Diamond Manufacturing. Caulk and bearing pads are delivered separately via ups.
Tools required: four foot level
Site specific materials: horizontal shims may be needed if bearing seats are not level. The supplied bearing pads may be used as horizontal shims. Vertical shims may be needed if flange to flange distance allows panels to tilt out of plumb. Shims may be neoprene, rubber, epdm, or elastomeric material. The supplied bearing pads may be used for shimming. Contact diamond to purchase additional bearing pads prior to installation.
Foundations and support posts must have the correct post to post spacing and must be plumb in the same vertical plane. Bearing seats on either end of a panel must be level.
Panels are designed to be handled by hand. The installer must provide a safe working condition.
Photos are taken of an Acoustax sample.

1) Check level between bearing points

2) Place a bearing pad under both ends of the panel only for the first course.

5) Install panel, centering the panel between the posts, check level.

6) Push the panel up against the
front flange of the post. |
3) Inspect panel to find drain holes on bottom edge of panel on per side.
4) Install a single continuous bead of caulk on the top side seam between the panel perf side and solid side.
Caulk panels while on the ground in advance of installation for safety reasons and to speed up the installation of panels. |
7) Shim on solid side plumb if necessary. Shim material may be neoprene, epdm, elastomeric, rubber, or backer rod, and need not be continuous.
Check panel for level and light tight horizontal caulked joint between panels.
8) Repeat to top of wall |
